Keep Dreaming

The American Dream
Exists everywhere
The difference lies
In America’s narcissism
To give it a name
To call it their own
To air it in Hollywood
Where nothing is holy
Where guns kill

For fake and for real
For actors need hardly act
Their fraudulent smiles
Soak the limelight
Make it rain for black umbrellas
Sour soliloquies from Oscar men
Gobble the lenses
Where diamonds are lent
The velvet blazers

Wrap concrete bowties
A noose for exercise
Legs longer than tree trunks
An elephant walks the red carpet
Out in the open
For laughter’s sake
For tabloid filters
The journalist eye
Is the most expensive
